List of key species and habitats has been prepared under the Task T2.2 `Screening of the existing ecological and environmental criteria `of the WP2, to allow T2.1 ‘Review of available datasets, data platforms and initiatives` to assess the availability of related data in marine and coastal datasets and data platforms.
The species and habitat lists are a compilation of:
a) lists in use for designating areas, such as marine protected areas (MPAs),
b) lists in use for monitoring areas, and
c) red lists.
The compilation is relevant for the designation of MPAs as well as for the identification of other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs).
This has resulted with a Microsoft Access database which consists of the following access files: Metadata species & habitats lists, Compilation species lists and Compilation habitats lists.
